Kimpton Madrid project strengthens IHG’s Spanish footprint
IHG Hotels has confirmed plans for a Kimpton Madrid hotel in the upscale Barrio Salamanca district, targeting a mid-2030 opening. The 106-room property, set within a heritage building on Goya Street 89, is being developed with Spanish retailer El Corte Inglés and advised by Colliers Hotels Iberia. Designs call for a neighborhood-facing ground-floor restaurant, wellness-focused spa facilities, an indoor pool and a rooftop bar and restaurant overlooking the city.
The project extends the Kimpton presence beyond existing locations in Barcelona, Mallorca and Marbella, reinforcing IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio in Spain. Madrid’s tourism sector has been gaining weight in the local economy, with international visitor spending reaching €17.9 billion in 2025, an increase of 11% year-on-year and 71% compared with 2019, according to the National Institute of Statistics. As of 31 March 2026, IHG reports 116 open and 68 pipeline luxury and lifestyle hotels across Europe, alongside 66 open and 16 pipeline properties in Spain.
