IHG accelerates India portfolio expansion strategy
IHG Hotels is ramping up its India portfolio, targeting more than 400 open and pipeline properties within five years. As of January 2026, the company operates 51 hotels across six brands in the country and holds a pipeline of 80 additional projects. India has delivered three consecutive years of record signings through 2025, reinforcing its status as a priority growth market for the group.
The portfolio spans luxury, premium and midscale offerings, with Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express accounting for over 70 percent of operating hotels and most of the development pipeline. IHG is also widening its brand mix, introducing the Garner mainstream brand in 2025 and preparing the first Vignette Collection opening in early 2026. Premium and lifestyle growth is supported by Crowne Plaza and voco signings across key cities and resort locations.
Key elements of IHG’s India portfolio plan
- Conversion-led expansion across market tiers
- Stronger presence in mainstream and premium segments
- Rising share of luxury and lifestyle brands in the pipeline
- Emphasis on new and secondary city destinations
